June 10 2025 – Manchester’s 435,000 sq ft flagship office campus, Exchange Quay is bringing the latest global fitness trend Hyrox to its Wellbeing Suite in partnership with health and wellbeing business Urban Reform.
A rapidly growing fitness craze which is building a mass following across UK gym-goers, Hyrox is a competitive indoor fitness race that combines running and functional exercises in a race format that involves participants completing 8km of running, interspersed with 8 functional workout stations.
Hyrox is designed to test strength, endurance, power and co-ordination and will be based at Exchange Quay’s new Wellbeing Suite, which will cater for up to 20 clients per class.
This forms part of the Exchange Quay’s ongoing workplace wellness partnership and is available to the 4,000 employees on campus. Through its UR Wellbeing branch, Urban Reform currently delivers tailored workplace wellness programs to businesses across Exchange Quay, integrating physical, mental and social health initiatives. These span everything from health assessments, fitness classes and wellbeing workshops to rehabilitation support and employee engagement events.
The introduction of Hyrox supports the wider health and wellness work at Exchange Quay as Urban Reform’s hybrid style of training complements this fitness racing movement which combines elements such as strength training, cardiovascular workouts and flexibility exercises and this allows participants to engage in a well-rounded, goal-oriented fitness regime.
Dean Ashton, Urban Reform, commented; “Exchange Quay is an ideal location for Hyrox as it can foster a sense of community. Professionals often have busy schedules that limit their social interactions, but training groups and racing events such as this provide opportunities to connect with others who share similar interests. This sense of belonging can help with mental health and provides valuable social support.
“Regular physical exercise is essential for stress management, critical to busy professionals facing increasingly high work demands, as well as great for increasing endorphins, reducing anxiety and improving sleep quality, which combined contribute to better physical and mental wellbeing,” continued Ashton.
Les Lang, Director, Till AM said: “We are hugely committed to supporting the health and wellbeing of our campus community and we are excited to bring this latest trend to Exchange Quay in partnership with Urban Reform. Manchester has a vibrant fitness culture and this innovative new training trend is sure to be very popular. Hyrox training and fitness racing will support the wider wellness of our busy professionals with the aim of fostering and enhancing social connections, managing stress and promoting a healthier lifestyle.
“Our sustained focus on wellness in the workplace through initiatives such as this help to foster a positive workplace culture, promote open communication and collaboration among team members which in turn enhances creativity and innovation. We are delighted to provide the means to help our community thrive both personally and professionally as we believe a happier and healthier workforce is key to achieving long term success in business with talent increasingly seeking companies with a strong health and wellbeing agenda. This further strengthens our ambition to be the healthiest office campus in Manchester,” continued Lang.
